Musculoskeletal Modeling Laboratory

MUSCULOSKELETAL MODELING LABORATORY

Head of Laboratory: Mark de Zee, Associate Professor (MdZ)

Aim

The main aim is to develop, validate and apply musculoskeletal models to basic research and clinical problems. A combined experimental and computational approach will give the most in depth knowledge about our complex musculoskeletal system.

Main Research Areas

  1. Development and improving of generic models
e.g. the lumbar spine, cervical spine, mandible.
  2. Development of methods for making subject-specific models
  3. Validation of models
  4. Applications of models in combinations with experimental investigations:
    - Sports science
    - Mandibular distraction osteogenesis
    - Pressure ulcer research
    - Orthopedics
