Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology Laboratory
Head of Laboratory: Lars Arendt-Nielsen, Professor (LAN)
This lab is affiliated to the Integrative Neuroscience Research Group
Aim
To perform Basic (e.g. Immunohistochemistry, Immunocytochemistry) and in vivo (e.g. Electrophysiology, Orofacial Operant Test) studies to develop suitable models and biomarkers for investigating the efficacy and safety of certain medications
To perform clinical research on medicines carried out in healthy volunteers or patients (Clinical Trials)
Main Research Areas
The studies performed by the laboratory are part of a wider context of research at the Department of Health Science and Technology (e.g. SMI collaboration with Biomedicine).
The main activities focus on:
- Neuropharmacology (e.g. Analgesics)
- Immunopharmacology (e.g. Anti inflammatory drugs, Anti allergic drugs)
- Neurotoxins (e.g. Botulinum Toxin Type A)
- Migraine Headache (Mechanisms, Novel targets)
- Glial modulation of pain
- miRNA in pain
